Sara Brooke

Sara is our youngest artist at Nagula Jarndu and we love her off-beat sense of humor in the studio. She grew up in Broome, spending lots of time outside wandering around, fascinated by all the wildlife and creatures that are part of everyday life in the town. Sara's heritage is Walmajarri in the northern part of the Great Sandy Desert and Bardi; saltwater country near One Arm Point but Sara was grown up by another family in Broome who moved from Melbourne to look after her. Sara says she has the 'D-trifactor' FasD, ADHD and Depression and that this combo makes her 3 times more Deadly!
Sara is a very talented illustrator with incredible observational drawing skills; her drawing style is always based in realism but a lot of personality shines through in her animals. Her designs are always bright, making the most of vivid contrasting colours. Sara loves anime and makes short animations herself. She is studying and working part time while building her dream to be a famous artist.
Her work has recently been selected to be shown in Revealed: New and Emerging WA Aboriginal Artists 2026, at PICA (Perth Institute of Contemporary Art)
